Summer Academy 2009.


Year after year we are amazed at the response we receive for this little program that we started in 2007. Jr. Agents get hands on with technology and Best Buy and Geek Squad employees have the opportunity to give back to their communities. The response of the Jr. Agents to our program is amazing. Often times after they build their first computer, the Jr. Agents look up and say “That’s it?” To which we respond “yup that’s it, you just built your first pc”. The smile on a Jr. Agent’s face after that very moment is priceless.

In 2009 we worked around the clock and had 21 Summer Academies across the United States, plus our first international Academy in Puerto Rico! Puerto Rico was special because it was our first Academy in

Spanish and our first Academy for special needs Jr. Agents! After the tour was done we graduated over 2000 Jr. Agents with the help of over 600 Best Buy employees from over 250 stores.

Our partners are the greatest and are so important to the success of this program. Special shout-outs to Coca-Cola, Magic Johnson Enterprises, MOUSE, Girls Inc., LA’s Best, Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, the Boys& GirlsClub, Laura Jeffrey Academy, and Girls Scouts of the USA!
